Alcoa Massena
Alcoa Massena was the first mass producer of aluminum in the United States. Established in Upstate New York in 1902, the facility produced aluminum for over 120 years. Massena East ceased operations in the mid 2010’s. The Massena West facility continued production. Over the years, the facility used huge amounts of asbestos.

Among the asbestos products that may have been used there were products manufactured or supplied by Johns Manville, Owens Corning Fiberglas, Childers MFG., U.S. Gypsum, Harbison-Walker, AP Green, Phillip Carey, Austin Asbestos, Chicago Firebrick, Carborundum, Quigley Co., Louisville Insulation and Supply Co, Lovell Insulations, Eagle-Pitcher, GAF Corp., Plibrico, Stanton, Glasrock Products, Iowa-Illinois Thermal, Electric Supply, Globe Machinery, Sauereisen Cements Co., as well as some Carey products.
