Alcoa Wenatchee
The Alcoa Wenatchee facility was a product of the Korean War era demand for aluminum. The smelter began producing in 1952, around the same time as the Alcoa Rockdale facility located in Rockdale, Texas. In 2015, Alcoa curtailed operations at the Wenatchee site. In 2021, the company announced a permanent closure. Over the decades, large quantities of asbestos were used at Alcoa smelters.
